Kids Are Heroes day at the Francis Scott Key Mall in Frederick, Maryland will take place on Saturday, September 6, 2008 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Our Heroes, Reagan and Rianna Joy have picked Justice for Dogs to showcase at the the mall and help raise awareness and funding for our cause. The Hero that raises the most funds also gets an additional donation from FSK of $250.

Each Hero will be recognized in a ceremony at 1:00 PM and throughout the coming 12 months, one Hero will be showcased each month at the mall fountain. The month dedicated to our Heroes will include a poster that highlights our Hero and their charity information. They will also receive the fountain coins from that month that will be donated to their charity.

Both girls volunteer extensively in the community: Reagan participated in the Vincentian Marian Youth group, a charitable service organization, and helped with food preparation and service at the Gettysburg Soup Kitchen each month in the school year last year.

Rianna participated this summer in a lemonade stand to benefit children with cancer. The proceeds bought Webkins for all the children at Camp Friendship.

Please stop by on September 13th to thank our Heroes, Reagan and Rianna for their love of companion animals and for giving back to their community.

Please visit the Kids Are Heroes information page for more information.

Thank you Reagan and Rianna!!!!

Governor O'Malley signs SB696 into law!

The bill will go into effect on October 1, 2007.  The bill had some very important language removed by the Senate and House (weather, time and length of chain) and we will be returning to Annapolis in 2008 with a bill that adds that language.

The rest of 2007 presents us with the opportunity to continue educating the public about issues facing dogs while also strongly speaking out about the need for support in Annapolis in 2008.  We truly appreciate everyone's efforts for this initiative and will keep you posted regarding ongoing and upcoming activities.
