This site is best viewed with Internet ExplorerLast Updated December 2010 Justice for Dogs was founded in 2005 in honor of Russ. Our original mission was to unite the people of Frederick County to persuade our county commissioners to pass an ordinance addressing the issue of dogs suffering at the end of a chain or confined to a pen. In the past five-years Justice for Dogs has been instrumental in the passage of both an ordinance in Frederick County and the state of Maryland. Justice for Dogs donated bulletproof vest to the K-9 Officer’s of the Frederick County Sheriff’s Department. Justice for Dogs worked with Morgan County, WV to help them pass an ordinance addressing chaining and penning of dogs and also with several other counties in Maryland and West Virginia.I am honored to have worked beside so many dedicated and hard-working people who share Justice for Dogs’ values. Those involved with Justice for Dogs have gone on to work on other animal welfare projects, lending our time and experience to the on-going cause of protecting the innocent and giving a voice to the voiceless. Justice for Dogs has fulfilled its initial vision, I feel that we have honored Russ’ memory and it is time to close this chapter of our journey.I would like to thank everyone who served on our board, spread the word, came to meetings, lobbied, and most of all, cared. Margaret Mead is quoted as saying, “"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, concerned citizens can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has." I think Justice for Dogs is proof positive that she was right as we changed the world of many dogs. There is still so much to do, so please keep lobbying for a lifetime of love and keep Justice for Dog’s mission alive. Please be sure to visit our "Resource" for information on groups that will help and please continue supporting these worthwhile organizations.Justice for Dogs would like to thank its many financial contributors and is donating our funds at the time of our dissolution to Dogs Deserve Better, the Humane Society of the United States, Poplar Springs Animal Sanctuary, and Tails of Hope Sanctuary.Thank-you,Terri Rutter, President &Founder
